- State School Superintendent; incumbent, Kathy Cox (R). [5/17/2010: Incumbent Kathy Cox has resigned and will be replaced by the Gov. Perdue.]
- Georgia House of Representatives; District 12, incumbent, Rick Jasperse (R). (The original incumbent, Tom Graves, resigned. The unexpired term was filled by the Special Election on May 11.)
- Georgia Senate; District 51. [The incumbent Republican, Chip Pearson,resigned and was replaced by another Republican in a Special Election.]

Many Democrats feel there is a need to counter the pro-corporate tilt of the "Democratic Leadership Council," the members of which tend to back Republican positions when it comes to corporate-friendly legislation (such as the infamous bankruptcy legislation that favored the credit-card companies).
